Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Heart Relay (“the app”, “we”) processes your personal data. Heart Relay relays your heart rate from an Apple Watch, AirPods Pro 3 or a Bluetooth chest strap to a bike computer or training app, and imports rides into Apple Health. The app follows a strict data minimization principle: it operates no servers, has no user accounts, uses no advertising, and integrates no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. The app makes no network connections at all. Everything described below happens on your devices.
2. Data We Process
2.1 Heart Rate Sensitive
During a session, your current heart rate is read from the Apple Watch (via a HealthKit workout session on the watch) or, on iOS 26, from AirPods Pro 3 or a Bluetooth heart rate monitor connected in iOS (via a HealthKit workout session on the iPhone). The value is transferred from the watch to the iPhone using Apple’s WatchConnectivity and is shown on both devices.
The iPhone then broadcasts the current heart rate over Bluetooth Low Energy using the standard Heart Rate Service, exactly like a chest strap would. Only devices you actively connect (for example a bike computer or a training app) receive this value. Heart Rate values are kept in memory only and are not written to a database by the app. They are not transmitted anywhere else.
2.2 Health Data (Apple Health) Sensitive
With your permission, the app reads from Apple Health: heart rate (for the live session from AirPods Pro 3 or a chest strap), your date of birth and resting heart rate (to pre-fill heart rate zones), your body mass and biological sex (to estimate calories for an imported ride when the file contains none), and existing workouts (to detect duplicates before an import). With your permission, the app writes to Apple Health: the workout of a session, if you choose to keep it, and imported rides (workout, route, heart rate, distance, active energy, cadence, power, speed).
Health data is processed on your device only. The app never sends Health data to us, to servers, to advertising or analytics providers, or to any recipient you did not choose yourself. In normal operation, the only Health data that leaves the iPhone is the current heart rate, over Bluetooth, to the bike computer or training app you connect (see 2.1). Anything you send us yourself, such as an e-mail or a shared connection log, is described in section 4. You can revoke access at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Heart Relay.
2.3 FIT Files
Ride files (.fit) that you open in the app or place in the app’s folder in the Files app are parsed on your device and stay there until you delete them. The app does not upload them.
2.4 Settings
Activity type, heart rate zone parameters (age, resting heart rate), alert and announcement preferences, voice selection and similar settings are stored locally in the app’s preferences and synchronised to the paired Apple Watch. They contain no identifiers.
2.5 Connection Log
For troubleshooting, the app keeps a local text log of connection events (app started, watch reachable, receiver connected, gaps in heart rate). It contains timestamps and technical states, no location and no account data. It stays on your device unless you choose to share it, for example by e-mail to us.
2.6 Live Activity, Speech and Haptics
The Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island shows the current heart rate, zone and elapsed time. Announcements use the speech synthesis built into iOS and watchOS. All of this runs on the device; nothing is sent to Apple or us.
2.7 Purchase
If you buy the app or an in-app purchase, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple. We receive no personal data about you, only anonymous sales statistics. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA)
- No analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs
- No accounts and no e-mail addresses, unless you write to us (see 4)
- No use of Location Services and no collection of your live location. Imported FIT files may contain route data recorded by your bike computer; it is processed on the device and, at your request, written to Apple Health.
- No server-side storage; the app makes no network connections
- No sale or sharing of data for marketing purposes
Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymous diagnostics and usage statistics in App Store Connect if you have enabled “Share with App Developers” in iOS. This is an Apple feature controlled in your iOS settings, not something the app collects itself.
4. Support and Website
If you write to hello@tekneio.com, we receive your e-mail address, your message and anything you attach. If you share the connection log from the app (see 2.5), it is sent only if and where you choose, for example to us by e-mail. We use this data solely to answer your request and delete it once the matter is closed, at the latest after 12 months.
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA). When you visit it, GitHub processes your IP address and the request for security purposes and keeps it in its server logs; see GitHub’s Privacy Statement. The site itself sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
5. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase or restrict the processing of your personal data, to data portability, to object to processing and to withdraw consent. Since all data stays on your devices, you exercise these rights directly on the device:
- Health access: Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Heart Relay. Workouts already written to Apple Health can be deleted in the Health app.
- FIT files and connection log: Delete them in the Files app under “On My iPhone > Heart Relay”, or delete the app.
- Settings and everything else: Deleting the app removes all its data from the iPhone and the watch.

7. Security
Data is protected by iOS and watchOS sandboxing and device encryption. The Bluetooth broadcast uses the standard Heart Rate Service; some receivers request pairing, which is handled by iOS with a code shown on the iPhone. The app operates no servers and makes no network connections.
8. Children
Heart Relay is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the app, please contact hello@tekneio.com.
9. Changes
This policy may be updated from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version. For material changes, you will be informed within the app.

1. Einleitung
Diese Datenschutzerklärung beschreibt, wie Heart Relay („die App“, „wir“) Ihre Personendaten bearbeitet. Heart Relay reicht den Puls einer Apple Watch, der AirPods Pro 3 oder eines Bluetooth-Brustgurts an einen Bike-Computer oder eine Trainings-App weiter und importiert Fahrten in Apple Health. Die App folgt dem Grundsatz der Datensparsamkeit: Sie betreibt keine Server, kennt keine Benutzerkonten, zeigt keine Werbung und enthält keine Analyse- oder Absturzberichts-SDKs. Die App stellt keinerlei Netzwerkverbindungen her. Alles Folgende geschieht auf Ihren Geräten.
2. Daten, die wir bearbeiten
2.1 Puls Sensibel
Während einer Session liest die App den aktuellen Puls von der Apple Watch (über eine HealthKit-Workout-Session auf der Uhr) oder, ab iOS 26, von AirPods Pro 3 bzw. einem in iOS verbundenen Bluetooth-Herzfrequenzmesser (über eine HealthKit-Workout-Session auf dem iPhone). Der Wert wird per WatchConnectivity von der Uhr ans iPhone übertragen und auf beiden Geräten angezeigt.
Das iPhone sendet den aktuellen Puls anschliessend per Bluetooth Low Energy über den Standard-Herzfrequenzdienst, genau wie ein Brustgurt. Nur Geräte, die Sie aktiv verbinden (z. B. ein Bike-Computer oder eine Trainings-App), empfangen diesen Wert. Pulswerte werden von der App nur im Arbeitsspeicher gehalten und nicht in einer Datenbank gespeichert. Sie werden nirgendwo sonst hin übertragen.
2.2 Gesundheitsdaten (Apple Health) Sensibel
Mit Ihrer Erlaubnis liest die App aus Apple Health: den Puls (für die laufende Session von AirPods Pro 3 oder Brustgurt), Geburtsdatum und Ruhepuls (zur Vorbelegung der Pulszonen), Gewicht und Geschlecht (zur Kalorienschätzung einer importierten Fahrt, wenn die Datei keine enthält) sowie bestehende Workouts (zur Duplikatprüfung vor einem Import). Mit Ihrer Erlaubnis schreibt die App in Apple Health: das Workout einer Session, falls Sie es behalten, und importierte Fahrten (Workout, Route, Puls, Distanz, aktive Energie, Trittfrequenz, Leistung, Tempo).
Gesundheitsdaten werden ausschliesslich auf Ihrem Gerät bearbeitet. Die App sendet keine Gesundheitsdaten an uns, an Server, an Werbe- oder Analyseanbieter oder an einen Empfänger, den Sie nicht selbst gewählt haben. Im normalen Betrieb verlässt als einzige Gesundheitsangabe der aktuelle Puls das iPhone, per Bluetooth an den Bike-Computer oder die Trainings-App, die Sie verbinden (siehe 2.1). Was Sie uns selbst senden, etwa eine E-Mail oder ein geteiltes Verbindungslog, beschreibt Abschnitt 4. Den Zugriff können Sie jederzeit unter Einstellungen > Datenschutz & Sicherheit > Health > Heart Relay entziehen.
2.3 FIT-Dateien
Fahrtdateien (.fit), die Sie in der App öffnen oder im Ordner der App in der Dateien-App ablegen, werden auf Ihrem Gerät gelesen und bleiben dort, bis Sie sie löschen. Die App lädt sie nirgendwohin hoch.
2.4 Einstellungen
Sportart, Zonenparameter (Alter, Ruhepuls), Alarm- und Ansageeinstellungen, Stimmenwahl und Ähnliches werden lokal in den App-Einstellungen gespeichert und mit der gekoppelten Apple Watch abgeglichen. Sie enthalten keine Identifikatoren.
2.5 Verbindungslog
Zur Fehlersuche führt die App ein lokales Textprotokoll der Verbindungsereignisse (App gestartet, Uhr erreichbar, Empfänger verbunden, Pulslücken). Es enthält Zeitstempel und technische Zustände, keinen Standort und keine Kontodaten. Es bleibt auf Ihrem Gerät, ausser Sie teilen es selbst, etwa per E-Mail an uns.
2.6 Live Activity, Sprachausgabe und Haptik
Die Live Activity auf dem Sperrbildschirm und in der Dynamic Island zeigt Puls, Zone und Laufzeit. Ansagen nutzen die in iOS und watchOS eingebaute Sprachsynthese. All das läuft auf dem Gerät; nichts wird an Apple oder uns gesendet.
2.7 Kauf
Kaufen Sie die App oder einen In-App-Kauf, wickelt Apple die Transaktion vollständig ab. Wir erhalten keine Personendaten, nur anonyme Verkaufsstatistiken. Siehe Datenschutzrichtlinie von Apple.
3. Was wir nicht erfassen
- Keine Werbe-IDs (IDFA)
- Keine Analyse-, Absturzberichts- oder Tracking-SDKs
- Keine Konten und keine E-Mail-Adressen, ausser Sie schreiben uns (siehe 4)
- Keine Nutzung der Ortungsdienste und keine Erfassung Ihres Standorts. Importierte FIT-Dateien können Routendaten enthalten, die Ihr Bike-Computer aufgezeichnet hat; sie werden auf dem Gerät verarbeitet und auf Ihren Wunsch in Apple Health geschrieben.
- Keine serverseitige Speicherung; die App stellt keine Netzwerkverbindungen her
- Kein Verkauf und keine Weitergabe von Daten zu Marketingzwecken
Apple kann uns in App Store Connect zusammengefasste, anonyme Diagnose- und Nutzungsstatistiken bereitstellen, wenn Sie in iOS „Mit App-Entwicklern teilen“ aktiviert haben. Das ist eine Funktion von Apple, die Sie in den iOS-Einstellungen steuern, keine Erhebung durch die App.
4. Support und Website
Wenn Sie an hello@tekneio.com schreiben, erhalten wir Ihre E-Mail-Adresse, Ihre Nachricht und allfällige Anhänge. Wenn Sie das Verbindungslog aus der App teilen (siehe 2.5), wird es nur dann und nur dorthin gesendet, wo Sie es wählen, zum Beispiel per E-Mail an uns. Wir verwenden diese Daten ausschliesslich zur Beantwortung Ihrer Anfrage und löschen sie nach Abschluss, spätestens nach 12 Monaten.
Diese Website wird auf GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA) betrieben. Beim Besuch verarbeitet GitHub Ihre IP-Adresse und die Anfrage aus Sicherheitsgründen und speichert sie in seinen Server-Logs; siehe Datenschutzerklärung von GitHub. Die Website selbst setzt keine Cookies und verwendet keine Analysetools.
5. Ihre Rechte
Je nach Wohnsitz haben Sie das Recht auf Auskunft, Berichtigung, Löschung, Einschränkung der Bearbeitung, Datenübertragbarkeit, Widerspruch und Widerruf einer Einwilligung. Da alle Daten auf Ihren Geräten bleiben, üben Sie diese Rechte direkt dort aus:
- Health-Zugriff: Einstellungen > Datenschutz & Sicherheit > Health > Heart Relay. Bereits in Apple Health geschriebene Workouts löschen Sie in der Health-App.
- FIT-Dateien und Verbindungslog: In der Dateien-App unter „Auf meinem iPhone > Heart Relay“ löschen, oder die App löschen.
- Einstellungen und alles andere: Das Löschen der App entfernt alle ihre Daten von iPhone und Uhr.

7. Datensicherheit
Die Daten sind durch die Sandbox von iOS und watchOS und die Geräteverschlüsselung geschützt. Die Bluetooth-Übertragung nutzt den Standard-Herzfrequenzdienst; manche Empfänger verlangen eine Kopplung, die iOS mit einem Code auf dem iPhone abwickelt. Die App betreibt keine Server und stellt keine Netzwerkverbindungen her.
8. Kinder
Heart Relay richtet sich nicht an Kinder. Wir erfassen wissentlich keine Personendaten von Kindern. Falls Sie glauben, dass ein Kind über die App Personendaten übermittelt hat, schreiben Sie bitte an hello@tekneio.com.
9. Änderungen
Wir können diese Erklärung aktualisieren. Das Datum „Zuletzt aktualisiert“ zeigt den aktuellen Stand. Bei wesentlichen Änderungen informieren wir Sie in der App.
